Quintum^® Announces New Unified Communications Proxy Offering ‘Any to Any’ Connectivity For Tenor VoIP Switches and Gateways

 

 

     EATONTOWN, NJ (January 23rd, 2008) – Quintum Technologies, a leading innovator in VoIP technologies and subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. [NYSE: NWK], announced today the release of the new Unified Communications Proxy (UCP) for Tenor VoIP MultiPath Switches and Gateways. The UCP, originally developed to support VoIP in Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007, allows multiple VoIP and TDM networks to be easily integrated together.  The UCP expands Tenor’s unique MultiPath switching capability to include enhanced call routing and SIP to SIP switching, and is now available in the entire Tenor “S” line of VoIP MultiPath Switches and Gateways.

 

     The addition of the new UCP capability in the Tenor provides “any to any” MultiPath switching between VoIP and TDM networks, including SIP to SIP calls, TDM to TDM calls and SIP to TDM calls.  This capability simplifies the deployment of new VoIP systems such as Unified Communications, assuring easy integration with any existing voice network element (TDM or SIP) and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).  This flexibility also benefits VoIP service providers by providing a flexible customer premises gateway that can interface to all existing business voice network elements including SIP, TDM or both.

     The UCP is available on any Tenor “S” product.  The Tenor "S" is Quintum's robust SIP-based line of VoIP switches and gateways.  The Tenor "S" with the UCP provides full "any to any" connectivity in SIP-based networks.  It also offers "survivability" making it the only gateway device needed in the branch office to support all legacy equipment, local PSTN connectivity and survivability of the local IP telephony network.  Tenor "S" contains a local SIP proxy that provides survivability for local SIP endpoints and intelligent call routing to keep any SIP-based VoIP network up and running if connectivity with the main proxy server is lost.
