New antenna coupler eases TETRA radio testing

                         Willtek adds coupler to TETRA product portfolio

     Ismaning (Germany) and Cheadle Hulme (Cheshire, UK), 3 April 2008 –
Service and repair shops testing TETRA mobile phones can now test their
radios without having to use type-specific RF (radio frequency) adapters.
Willtek Communications today introduced the first antenna coupler for
TETRA frequencies, the Willtek 4914 Antenna Coupler. It complements the
2303 Stabilock, a dedicated TETRA mobile station tester for service in the
field of PMR (professional mobile radio). The coupler can also be used for
mobile phone systems operating in the 400 MHz range, such as CDMA-450.
The 4914 Antenna Coupler renders an individual RF adapter for each type of
TETRA radio unnecessary. The TETRA phone is placed on the shuttle of the
4914 which in turn is connected to the RF port of the radio test set. This
way, handling is becoming much easier. Without expensive and difficult to
handle special adapters, it is almost impossible to test a hand-portable
radio.

     Radio shop managers can also raise the level of confidence in the TETRA
equipment because the antenna is included in the test. Until now, the
antenna was not used during the test but either dismounted or bypassed.

Together with the 2303 Stabilock and the 4921 RF Shield, it constitutes a
complete solution for ensuring that the radio equipment is fully
functional. Proper communication tools are vital for the public safety and
security services in a critical mission.”

     Willtek’s 4914 Antenna Coupler enables users to reliably and safely test
different hand-portable radios in a few steps. Handling has become so easy
that the antenna coupler can even be used by untrained staff. The shuttle
provided with the 4914 holds the radio terminal and allows for taking high
precision measurements at good repeat accuracy because the radio is
positioned accurately.
